Say Goodbye to the Gap

Permanent Tooth Replacement from an Expert

One missing tooth, or an unhealthy tooth that must be extracted, need not make you feel uncomfortable. You can have that gap filled or bad tooth removed and replaced with the best substitute available today: a dental implant. Implants look, function, and feel like natural teeth and are made to last for many years. A dental bridge can also fill in the gap but doesn’t protect your jawbone and requires the adjoining teeth to be trimmed down. With a dental implant, you can feel good about yourself again and enjoy normal daily activities with complete comfort. You may be surprised at the life-changing power of a dental implant in Newton, MA.

Dr. Noah Orenstein is a surgically trained, board-certified prosthodontist—an acknowledged specialist in dental implants. After dental school he completed a further three years of advanced training in implants and other tooth restoration treatments. Not stopping there, he went on to attain board certification as a prosthodontist—an honor only one in 20 of his peers have achieved. While many are board-eligible, they haven’t completed the rigorous testing and other requirements that go along with board certification. With his proven qualifications, he has taught at the prestigious Harvard University School of Dental Medicine’s implant and prosthodontic residency programs. Who better to provide your implant?

Getting Your Dental Implant

Step 1: Qualification and Preparation

Most of our patients come to us as qualifying candidates for a dental implant. Those who don’t can become qualified after a few simple treatments. If you have a decayed tooth that you want replaced by a dental implant, Dr. Orenstein can extract it. Likewise, if you’ve suffered jawbone loss connected with your tooth loss, he can rebuild your jawbone mass and strength through bone grafting. Dr. Orenstein will determine all of this during your free initial consultation. This personalized visit will give him a chance to discuss your options and perform an examination that includes an x-ray.

For your convenience, Dr. Orenstein offers a mobile CT scanning service to capture some of the images he needs to plan your procedure. The equipment is in a van that can visit you anywhere—at home, work, or at your favorite coffee house! Using all the information he acquires, he can have a customized, guided surgical template created for you by an outside lab, if he decides one is needed. During your placement procedure—the following visit—he can use the guide to place your implant at just the right angle and depth for a comfortable, lasting fit in a shorter amount of time.

Step 2: Dental Implant Placement

When you return to have your implant placed, Dr. Orenstein will make you relaxed with single-dose oral sedation. If you suffer from dental anxiety, you’ll be happy to know that our sedation will keep you pain- and fear-free throughout your procedure. Dr. Orenstein will then perform any other required treatments such as an extraction before continuing with your placement process. For this, he puts your customized surgical guide over the treatment area, if applicable, then inserts a single dental implant through it and into your jaw.

Dr. Orenstein uses implants from Keystone, recognized as one of the premier providers of quality dental implants. The implant is made to stay in your jaw permanently. Implants don’t decay and will retain their structural integrity throughout their lifetime, giving you years of reliable performance if you give them proper care. Following this, Dr. Orenstein will fit you with a temporary crown so that you’ll be able to eat and speak without embarrassment while the implant site heals.

Step 3: Dental Implant Restoration

Your implant site will heal for three to six months after placement. During that time, it undergoes a process called osseointegration, permanently fusing with your jawbone. Once you’ve finished healing, you’ll return to see Dr. Orenstein for your final restoration. This is a durable, natural-looking crown chosen to precisely match the color and overall esthetics of the surrounding teeth. With that new crown in place, you’ll be able to enjoy a complete, healthy, and attractive smile—and all its benefits—once again!
